This week I had the pleasure of meeting with the District Attorney of Richmond County with members of the Board of Directors of “La Colmena” (“The Beehive”).
I am a member of the Board and have worked hard to unite the Staten Island community and to make it a safer place for new immigrants and their families. The meeting was very productive insofar as the District Attorney strives to create a safe workplace for workers in Staten Island and to prevent unnecessary accidents. Worker Safety was one point that was stressed at this meeting, especially in the context of compliance with the Buildings Department Code and OSHA issues.
The addition of a multilingual community liaison, including a Spanish speaking employee, was also raised at the meeting.
